Can you shoot at low ISO and boost exposure in post and get same results as high ISO? | HDSLR | Scoop.it

Video-shootout: Panasonic GH4, Blackmagic Design Production Camera 4K and Sony AX100

Video-shootout: Panasonic GH4, Blackmagic Design Production Camera 4K and Sony AX100 | HDSLR | Scoop.it

With three brand new cameras capable of 4K in our hands, we were curious to see how they compare. Of course, these are completely different types of cameras -- the attractive pricing and the ability to shoot 4K is almost all they have in common -- so a real comparison between them is almost impossible. All depends on the situation and/or individual preferences. Is a quick postproduction workflow needed or is 10 bit color sampling more important? Not to mention the future RAW-option on the Blackmagic 4K. Are interchangeable lenses a must or is a fixed wide angle zoom-lens with integrated ND filters as on the Sony AX100 more attractive? Photography is second nature only to the GH4, so if versatility is the key, it beats the others hands down.

Jim Knowlton's Blue Ocean Blog | Sharing diving, video production and ocean conservation

Jim Knowlton's Blue Ocean Blog | Sharing diving, video production and ocean conservation | HDSLR | Scoop.it

I have been experimenting with shooting RAW video using ML software. ML RAW records video at 1080p 14bit color without any processing from the camera. My tests show that the RAW video is sharper than the H.264 video recorded by my 5DMlll (5DM3) and there is more dynamic range – meaning, I can get more details out of the shadow areas than with H.264. The 14 bit color information means that more color information is stored compared to the normal H.264 8 bits of color info.
